Love It or Leave It? My Favorite Color Combination.

About 7 or 8 years ago I was selling real estate and I remember detesting the color gray. I didn’t like it. I thought it was dull, uninviting and there was no possible way I would ever like it. If you told me gray would become one of my favorite colors… I would have called you crazy!

Even more, if I had a crystal ball I would never have guessed my favorite color combination would be gray and brown. Gray and brown together? Sounds weird to me even now….

Maybe it was our gray mini-schnauzer with his chocolate brown eyes…

Or the floral fabric that now sits on my sofa…

Either way, this is a color combo to love!

So before we get too far, I am going to shatter any illusion you had about my house always looking perfect.

It doesn’t. I have kids. And I always have some unfinished project. So here we go.

This is what the house looked like when we bought it. Sterile college dorm looking.

I don’t know if you can really call this progress… but from where it came from it is. I still have several things left to do in here.

From the other direction, before:

And after.  I am still debating whether or not to continue the damask up the wall or not… or just leave as is. What would you do?

And what do you think of the combination of brown and gray… is it a love it or leave it??

Happy Friday! Have a good weekend!

P.S. I am working on my sectional reupholstery job. So hard… because my 2 year old is fascinated with the sewing machine and keeps climbing on the table and trying to touch the moving needle!  My mother will atest to how painful that would be if he got stuck. I still remember her having to go to the hospital for having a sewing machine needle shatter inside her finger when I was a child. Obviously scarred me for life. =)

I love the brown wall. I think you should continue the damask pattern up the wall. It makes a great focal point. I also think the brown and gray go together very well.

P.S. I love the chair in the foreground with the writing on the upholstery!
