Feeling depressed? A little bored with your current decor? Need a little spice in your life? Then add a little Tangerine Tango, Pantone’s Color of the Year 2012, to your interior design!
My husband saw me researching this post and said that they must have chosen this as the color of the year because they were inspired by Rickie Fowler and his infamous orange getup:
Maybe so… but this comment tells you everything you need to know about my cute hubby. =)
According to http://www.peacefulmind.com/orange.htm,
“It (orange) is the best emotional stimulant. Joy comes from orange energy…. It strengthens confidence and allows independence….This energy — gives power to remove suppression and inhibitions. It allows you to create ideas and give courage and strength.”
To get you inspired, here are some great examples of the use of orange.
It would be hard not to smile cooking in this kitchen.
This kitchen is warm and inviting in a dramatic way.
Orange and brown together is fantastic combo.
This kitchen has three of my favorite things: damask, Carera marble, and white kitchen cabinets.
Fun dining room with dramatic striped chairs.
Fun classic contemporary dining room.
This dining room has wheels spinning in my head… this is so something I would love in my house!
This went from ultra neutral to exciting with just a pop of orange. Proof that a little can go a long way.
I love the numbered orange chairs.
A little Asian influence.
Proof that orange black and white doesn’t have to look like Halloween.
Love the orange subway tile wall…. the mirror needs to be bigger though.
Love the chippy art mixed with the formal feel of the chairs and the animal print pillows.
A lot more animal print…
Orange with brown and green is a great color scheme.
Here are a few rooms from Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
Love this bedroom.
Another great example of imperial trellis… you know I love this pattern! I think this could have used another accent color.
A little on the formal side.
This room screams fun and I LOVE the baby photo, but feel it is hung way too high. If they wanted to break “Design Rules”, I would have hung it asymmetrical instead of almost touching the ceiling.
Orange and navy, another great color combo.
Similar to the one above, but just a little more special…
Fun orange desk.
Love this ecclectic office. Fun chairs. Fun ampersand (&).
And last, but certainly not least, everyone could use one or two of these in their lives.
Do you have any orange in your interior decor? If so, we’d love to see it over in the design forum in the design trends category.
**Again, if you see a photo you recognize, I love to give credit where it’s due… these photos have come from years of googling, pinteresting, etc. so I don’t always know the original source, so please let me know if you recognize one. Love ya all!
