And the winner is….
Now for some family room progress and the fun sectional pillows! Her is my family room… coming a long. It still has a way to go, but it is a far cry from last year when we moved in.
A shot with my pillows. As you can see I like a lot of graphic fabrics.
Okay. I have loved chevron/zigzag fabric for a year and half and had planned to use it, but then I started seeing it EVERYWHERE!! I hate joining fads. So I have been rebelling. But I felt like this fabric brought some brightness to the sofa, so I went ahead and bit the bullet and made the pillow. Besides, it’s only one pillow, right??
What do you think of my colorful floral fabric? I have been carting this oversized houndstooth around for over 2 years now (yes… I too am a fabric hoarder). This is the perfect time to break it out. And the diagonal fabric…. not really diagonal. It was a regular stripe that I turned on a 45degree angle. It was left over from my sons’ crib bedding. It just matched the floral perfectly!
I plan on bringing in more of this yellow color into the room, so I was excited about this fabric I paid $1 for.
I love feather/down pillows, because I love to fluff and karate chop them… but they can run you some dough. I got the majority of mine at Home Fabrics which is the best deal I have found retail. Just know they run flat, so if you get them, buy them too big. I usually buy a 22″ pillow and put it in an 18″ pillow form. Or I buy two 18″ pillows for one pillow.
But I am going to let you in on a little secret… 3 of my feather forms are from the Goodwill. I know you all just did an “Eeewwwww!!!” in your head… my husband totally did! But here’s the deal: They were $2 each on a 50%off day. They were covered in a very grandma type fabric and they were spotless and they had a zipper which I opened up and noticed they were perfectly clean , not spotsof any kind. I am sure they sat on some little old lady’s sofa and got looked at not used. So I am totally fine with that!
Did you notice my glowing sign letters previously posted here in the background? All in all the fabrics ranged form $1-$6 a yard… the pillow forms were from $2-$7 and they are feather down. It doesn’t get much better than that.
The bench below the window is to give me an idea of what it will be like when I have a built in window seat on either side. What do you think?
Would you change anything? I might add one more pillow in an ikat… which I am TOTALLY obsessing over right now.
